My name is Ed Johnson. I have been working in technology with a focus of helping businesses transform. My goal is partner with business leaders to look holistically at how their business can improve efficiency and better connect with their customers. To achieve this, I take teams through this 3-step process:
Learn their business—What do they do? What do their competitors do? And what makes them unique?
Look at their technology—What systems do they have? How do their systems integrate? And how much technical debt has been built up?
Roadmap future state—What processes need to change? What technology can be added? And most importantly, how do we give the business greater agility?
I have loved learning about different types of business I have always loved coding and building new technology. But what I have really enjoyed over the last 10 years is helping people through this process. It combines my two favorites part of the job. Learning about how people do something and using technology to help them.
A few years ago, I was sitting around fire hanging at a technology conference with an industry analyst and a product strategy owner for a software provider. During the conference, I had spoken at a session earlier that day about business optimization and technology. I was encouraged by them to start writing and sharing my ideas about technology with other people. I always had an excuse not to get started. I was too busy. I didn’t have any ideas on what to write.
With some more time on my hands due to a recent layoff, I started to think about writing again. So, I sat down one night and said if I could come up with five ideas in 30 minutes that I would start. I had 8 ideas flushed out. And here we are.
If you have an idea for a topic or you want to go deeper on any of these topics, I would love to chat. If you find it helpful, I would love to hear how it has helped you. Look forward to hearing from you!
